MILWAUKEE — It wasn't Shirley Manson's first time at Summerfest Wednesday. The lead singer of Garbage took the Harley-Davidson Roadhouse stage that evening alongside her bandmates.
Manson said it's been wild since the band started in Madison and recorded their first four albums in Dairyland.
"This whole state of Wisconsin is engrained in my life and in ways that I couldn't possibly have fathomed 20 years ago, like people obsessed with the Green Bay Packers ... I have to be. My band are diehard fans," Manson explained.
Garbage hit the big time after recording "Only Happy When it Rains" in the nineties.
The group even composed the theme song for the James Bond film, "The World Is Not Enough."
These days, the band is touring a new album and recently performed on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Though it's possible to tell Manson hails from Scotland, she is all too familiar with Wisconsin winters.
"It's taxing when you come from a really moderate climate like Scotland, to come her and experience what you guys experience," she said. "You guys are tough, tough."
She had just a few parting words before taking the stage for her show at the Big Gig: "Go Pack, go!"
